Allemand Der Anfang allen Übels war ein Unfall im Versuchslabor eines Herrenhauses. Dieser Unfall hatte zur Folge, daß der T-Virus, ein bilogischer Kampfstoff der Umbrella Corporation, freigesetzt wurde. Alles Leben in seiner ursprünglichen Form wurde vernichtet und in schleckliche Mutationen verwandelt. Dies liegt etwa zwei Monate zurück und der Fall schien abgeschlossen, doch die schrecklichen Experimente der Umbrella Corporation waren alles andere als vorbei. Der T-Virus war nur ein Vorbote. Ganz Raccoon City wurde durch den noch todbringenderen G-Virus infiziert. Die Stadt wird von Zombies und anderen höllischen Kreaturen bevölkert. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt treffen Leon. S. Kennedy und Claire Redfield nichts ahnend in der Stadt ein und stürtzen Hals über Kopf in das Abenteuer Ihres Lebens.

Anglais Resident Evil 2 takes place two months after the events of the first game and is set in Raccoon City, a Midwestern mountain community whose residents have been turned into zombies by the T-virus, a biological weapon developed by the pharmaceutical company Umbrella. In their escape from the city, the two protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield encounter other survivors and are confronted by William Birkin, the mutated creator of the even more powerful G-virus.
Previously confined to an old mansion, the Umbrella corporation's legacy of fatal mutations has spilled over into nearby Raccoon City. The once peaceful town is now overrun with zombies and all manner of genetic mutations. New police recruit Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield; the sister of STARS agent Chris Redfield, find themselves in the middle of an experiment gone horribly wrong.

In precedenza confinato in una vecchia villa, l'eredità di mutazioni fatali della società Umbrella si è riversata nella vicina Raccoon City. Os protagonistas são Leon S. Kennedy, um policial novato em seu primeiro dia na força local, e Claire Redfield, uma estudante universitária à procura de seu irmão Chris. Tendo acabado de chegar na cidade, os dois partem para o Departamento de Polícia de Raccoon buscando proteção contra a população mutante. No entanto, após um caminhão desgovernado atingir o carro onde estavam, eles são forçados a dividirem-se (é possível escolher jogar como Leon ou Claire).
