Allemand 15. Mai 1984. In einer Bar betreten kurz nach einem zwielichtigen Geschäft zwei Männer die Bar. Sie sind Undercover-Polizisten, und als der Kriminelle sie bemerkt, flieht er aus der Bar. Als er mit seinem Motorrad an der Stadt vorbeifährt, kann der Pick-up-Truck der Undercover-Polizisten nicht mehr mithalten, als der Kriminelle über einen Zaun auf ein offenes Feld fährt. Auf seiner Flucht hat er jedoch etwas sehr Wichtiges zurückgelassen. Drei Tage später bricht jemand in das Haus eines der Agenten ein. Drinnen werden John und Jackie Ryan von einem unbekannten Auftragskiller brutal ermordet. Ihr Sohn Jake wird Zeuge des Geschehens, versteckt im Schrank im Zimmer seiner Eltern. 11 Jahre vergehen, und Jake Ryan, der seit dem Vorfall bei seiner Großmutter lebt, tritt in die Akademie ein und schließt diese mit Bravour ab. Der Tod seiner Eltern wird zu einem Cold Case, trotz der besten Versuche von Lyle Jamison, einem von Johns engsten Freunden und Privatdetektiv, die Verbrecher zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen. Als er der örtlichen Polizei von Jackson Beach zugeteilt wird, erfährt er, dass gestohlene Waffen der Nationalgarde in der Gegend im Umlauf sein sollen, und eines Nachts fällt Jake etwas ins Auge, das ihn der Wahrheit näher bringen könnte...

Anglais May 15 1984. In a bar, shortly after a shady deal took place two men enter the bar. They are undercover cops, and once the criminal notices them, he flees the bar, and as his motorcycle skims past town, the pick-up truck used by the undercover cops isn't capable of keeping up when the criminal goes past a fence into an open field. However, while escaping, he left something very important behind. Three days later, someone breaks one of the agents' house. Inside, John and Jackie Ryan are brutally assassinated by an unknown hitman. Their son Jake witnesses everything hidden from the closet in his parent's room.

11 years pass by, and Jake Ryan, living with his grandmother since the incident, joins the Academy and graduates with flying colours. His parents' death turned into a cold case, despite the best attempts by Lyle Jamison, one of John's closest friends and P.I. to bring the criminals into justice. As he is assigned to the local Jackson Beach PD, he learns that stolen National Guard weapons are suspected to be circulating in the area, and one night something catches Jake's eye that might bring him closer to the truth...
