Allemand Als sich das Spiel dem Veröffentlichungsdatum im März 1997 näherte, waren die Entwickler mit dem resultierenden Produkt unzufrieden.

Während der Entwicklung gibt es schon in einer sehr frühen Phase künstlerische Differenzen zwischen Produzent Shinji Mikami und Teamleiter Hideki Kamiya. Aufgrund mangelner Fortschritte, beauftragt der Entwicklungschef den professionellen Drehbuchautor Noboru Sugimura als Berater. Es war damals ca: zu 80 - 90% fertiggestellt aber anstatt das Spiel zu veröffentlichen gingen die Entwickler das Risiko ein, das Spiel von Grund auf neu zu entwickeln.
2013 fanden findige Fans den Quellcode des Spiels und haben sich entschlossen, Resident Evil 1.5 fertigzustellen.

Zur Handlung:Die Handlung von Resident Evil 1.5 soll kurz nach den aus dem Vorgänger bekannten Vorfällen im Herrenhaus einsetzen und unterscheidet sich maßgeblich vom »echten« Resident Evil 2, das 1998 erscheint.

Wer mal Resident Evil 2 anders erleben will, kann versuchen zu Überleben.....

Anglais Resident Evil 1.5 / Biohazard 1.5 (also known as BIOHAZARD 2 PROTOTYPE) is the development name given to the first iteration of Resident Evil 2, which was scrapped in 1997.

As the game was approaching its March 1997 release date, the developers were dissatisfied with the resulting product. Rather than releasing a game they were unhappy with, the developers took the risk of cancelling the game and developing the game again from scratch.
