Allemand Adols langjähriger Freund Dogi möchte in seine Heimatstadt Redmont zurückkehren, nachdem er von seltsamen Störungen gehört hat, die dort passieren. Adol ist immer auf der Suche nach einem Abenteuer, schließt sich ihm an und findet bald die Ursache für dieses neue Übel heraus.

Anstelle der in früheren Ys-Spielen verwendeten Top-Down-Kameraansicht verwendet Ys III eine Side-Scrolling-Plattform-Präsentation. Auto-Angriff wird entfernt; Der Spieler muss einen Knopf drücken, damit Adol Feinde angreift.

Ansonsten ist die Spielmechanik identisch mit den vorherigen Spielen der Serie. Anglais Adol's long time friend, Dogi wishes to return to his home town of Redmont after hearing about strange disturbances that are happening there. Always looking for an adventure, Adol joins him and soon finds out the cause of this new evil.

Ys III breaks away from the "bumping into enemies" battle system of the first two games and allows Adol to control his sword in a variety of directions. As well as changing the battle system, the game is now side scrolling instead of the previous games top-down view. Adol also now has the ability to jump. Not new to the series is the use of magical rings which give Adol different powering up abilities such as healing and shielding. The game also uses various key items found along the way to solve minor puzzles and progress the story.
Espagnol El viejo amigo de Adol, Dogi, desea regresar a su ciudad natal de Redmont luego de enterarse de los extraños disturbios que están ocurriendo allí. Siempre en busca de una aventura, Adol se une a él y pronto descubre la causa de este nuevo mal. Ys III se separa del sistema de batalla "chocar con los enemigos" de los primeros dos juegos y permite a Adol controlar su espada en varias direcciones. Además de cambiar el sistema de batalla, ahora el juego se desplaza lateralmente en lugar de la vista descendente anterior de los juegos. Adol ahora también tiene la habilidad de saltar. Le joueur incarne Adol qui peut se servir de son épée et d'autres objets pour se défaire de ses nombreux ennemis.

Ys III si allontana dal sistema di combattimento "urtare i nemici" dei primi due giochi e consente ad Adol di controllare la sua spada in una varietà di direzioni. Oltre a cambiare il sistema di battaglia, il gioco ora è a scorrimento laterale, invece della vista dall'alto verso il basso dei giochi precedenti. Anche Adol ora ha la capacità di saltare. Portugais A história segue com o herói Adol, que salvou o reino de Ys anteriormente e partiu junto a seu amigo Dogi. A região de Kenai está sendo arrastada para a destruição graças a demônios poderosíssimos. A cidade natal de Dogi fica nos arredores, motivando os heróis a irem investigar o ocorrido. A ação acontece em progressão lateral com batalhas em tempo real. Você consegue saltar com o botão C e usar sua espada com o botão B, sendo necessário explorar as cidades e conversar com as pessoas em busca de itens. É possível gerenciar quatro estatísticas: HP (energia), EXP (nível), RP (poder do anel) e GOLD (o seu dinheiro).
