Anglais Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence continues the Metal Gear Solid series tradition of follow-up enhanced, international version releases.
Subsistence's online multiplayer component, titled Metal Gear Online, consists of five tournament-style game modes, each with a capacity of up to eight players. This mode pits players, each playing as a generic soldier against each other in deathmatch battles and variations of capture the flag, using stages, items, maneuvers, and units (such as the KGB, GRU or Ocelot Unit) from the main game.

Espagnol Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence es una versión ampliada de Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, la quinta entrega de la saga de videojuegos Metal Gear. Las características más destacadas de esta versión respecto a Snake Eater son la aparición de un modo de videojuego en línea (el cual ya no se encuentra disponible) y la inclusión de Metal Gear y Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, las dos entregas de la saga que aparecieron en 1987 y 1990 respectivamente para el ordenador MSX.

O jogo foi lançado em 22 de dezembro de 2005 no Japão, em 14 de março de 2006 na América do Norte e em 6 de outubro de 2006 na Europa.

A história se passa na Rússia da época da Guerra Fria e se centra no agente da unidade FOX Naked Snake, cujas missões são resgatar um fabricador de armas e sabotar uma superarma experimental. O jogo apresenta novos recursos, como uma nova câmera e a adição da primeira encarnação do Metal Gear Online.
