Allemand Donald Ducks Neffen, Tick, Trick und Track, werden von einem Magier in ein Buch gezogen. Als Donald und Micky beginnen zu suchen, erscheint eine Fee, die ihnen erzählt, dass die Kids in dem Buch sind und vom bösen König (Kater Karlo) gefangen gehalten werden. Die Fee kann mit ihren magischen Fertigkeiten Micky und Donald in das Buch saugen, auf der eine Fantasy-Welt auf die beiden wartet.

Das Spiel beginnt damit, dass man erst einmal die Wahl zwischen Micky und Donald hat. Während des Spieles kann man den Charakter nicht mehr wechseln, aber das macht nichts, da das Spiel durchaus einen Wiederspielcharakter hat. Beide Figuren haben diesmal zum ersten Mal in der Spielereihe unterschiedliche, jedoch ähnliche Fähigkeiten, die sie mit ihren 3 verschiedenen Outfits bekommen.

Das Gameplay ist gleich geblieben. Es wird in 7 unterschiedlichen und abwechslungsreichen Levels (Fantasy-Stadt, Schneelevel, Wald, Festung, Luftschiff etc.) gespielt und Gegner umhergeschleudert bzw. ausgewichen, während man Herzen und Münzen sammelt. Mit den Münzen kann man in Geschäften, die es in den Leveln erst einmal zu entdecken gilt, diverse Dinge wie Zusatzherzen, Extraleben oder Verbesserungen für die Outfits kaufen (bei Outfits halbiert sich dann die benötigte Energie, um die Fähigkeit des Outfits zu benutzen). Neu sind Bonuslevel, bei der man ebenfalls Münzen, Extraherzen, Punkte und Leben gewinnen kann.

The sequel to The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie (and the third and final game in Disney's "Magical Quest" trilogy), Magical Adventure 3 follows Disney mascots Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck as they traverse through Storybook Land to rescue Donald's duckling nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie from the evil King Pete.
