Allemand Bei Uncharted Waters handelt sich um ein Simulations- und Rollenspiel, in der es um Segeln und Handel geht und das sich um das Zeitalter der Entdeckungen im frühen 16. Jahrhundert dreht. Es wurde 1992 für den SNES veröffentlicht.

Im ersten Spiel der Serie schlüpft der Spieler in die Rolle von Leon Franco, dem jungen, ehrgeizigen Sohn einer in Portugal in Schwierigkeiten geratenen Adelsfamilie. Ziel des Spiels ist es, den früheren Ruhm der Familie wiederherzustellen und Leons Träume zu verwirklichen. Nur drei Nationen sind vertreten: Portugal, Spanien und das Osmanische Reich, obwohl es viele neutrale Häfen auf der ganzen Welt gibt, in die der Spieler "investieren" kann, um sie in Portugals Einflussbereich zu bringen. Dadurch, sowie durch die Entdeckung von Häfen und den Sieg über andere Händler und Piraten in Seeschlachten, steigt Leons Ruhm. Mit steigendem Ruhm kann Leon Aufgaben für den portugiesischen König erfüllen und höhere Adelstitel erlangen.

The disarray that followed brought about an end to the nobility of the Franco name. 100 years have passed and Portugal has prospered through it's sailing and trading empires. Young Leon Fanco wishes to restore his family's good name and make a name for himself as a sailor. At the heart of his ambition is the fair lady, Christiana, who is desired by the likely heir to the kingdom. Towards that end, Leon has been working hard to secure finances for his first ship. With the first step of his dream complete, Franco sails out with his father's good friend as first mate, you're off to find fame, adventure and fortunes out on the sea and in uncharted waters.
