Anglais Cave Story is a metroidvania platformer featuring Quote, an amnesiac soldier who discovers a city of rabbit-like creatures called Mimigas. The Mimigas are being kidnapped and experimented on by an evil doctor, and they remember a hero named Arthur. Quote teams up with Sue, a stranger who knows about Dragon Eggs, but the doctor is after her as well. The game features fast-paced gameplay and an 8-bit style reminiscent of NES platformers. Quote collects and upgrades various weapons while navigating jumping puzzles and boss battles. The DSiWare version closely mirrors the original but includes additional features like a Time Attack mode, seasonal costumes, and a jukebox for the soundtrack.

Espagnol Cave Story es un metroidvania de plataformas protagonizado por Quote, un soldado amnésico que descubre una ciudad habitada por criaturas con apariencia de conejo llamadas Mimigas.

Los Mimigas están siendo secuestrados y sometidos a experimentos por un doctor malvado, quien busca a un héroe llamado Arthur. Quote se une a Sue, una extraña que conoce el secreto de los Huevos de Dragón, pero el doctor también la persigue.

El juego presenta una jugabilidad rápida y un estilo gráfico en 8 bits, evocando a los clásicos de NES. Quote puede recolectar y mejorar diversas armas mientras supera desafíos de plataformas y enfrenta intensas batallas contra jefes.

La versión DSiWare conserva la esencia del original, pero añade características como un modo Time Attack, trajes estacionales y un jukebox para escuchar la banda sonora.
