Der Spieler kämpft gegen monströse Kreaturen und abartige Ausgeburten aus anderen Welten. Erst wenn Shadowman den Mord an seinem Bruder rächen kann, wird seine Seele befreit und die Erde gerettet.

Anglais You're the Shadow Man, a person who can switch between the world of the dead and of the living. In Shadow Man your mission is to prevent 5 serial killers from bringing the total armageddon. In the world of the living, you're mortal and have conventional weapons. When you die, you are transported to the world of the dead and you become Shadow Man once again. Which means you're not really mortal. In the world of the dead you can't use normal weapons, your gun shoots ghosts which kill the zombies and the other ugly creatures which live there. You also have different voodoo powers and weapons. And you're carrying a large inventory around.

Espagnol Eres el Hombre de las Sombras, una persona que puede cambiar entre el mundo de los muertos y el de los vivos. En Shadow Man tu misión es evitar que 5 asesinos en serie traigan el armageddon total. En el mundo de los vivos, eres mortal y tienes armas convencionales. Cuando mueres, te transportas al mundo de los muertos y te vuelves Shadow Man una vez más. Lo que significa que no eres realmente mortal. En el mundo de los muertos no puedes usar armas normales, tu arma dispara fantasmas que matan a los zombis y las otras criaturas feas que viven allí. También tienes diferentes poderes y armas vudú. Portugais Shadow Man é um Video jogo desenvolvido pela Acclaim Studios Teesside e publicado pela Acclaim Entertainment. Foi desenhado por Guy Miller e Simon Phipps e é vagamente baseado na série de quadrinhos Shadowman publicada pela Valiant Comics. O jogo foi lançado em 1999 para Nintendo 64, tendo uma versão traduzida e dublada.

Shadow Man gira em torno de um homem de nome Michael LeRoi (Mike), um ex-estudante de Literatura inglesa transformado no Shadow Man, um guerreiro Vodu. Dez anos antes dos eventos que ocorrem no jogo, Mike foi reprovado nas aulas e seus hábitos de apostar esgotaram suas economias, forçando-o a trabalhar como um motorista de táxi em Chicago, tudo isso enquanto mantinha seu fracasso em segredo da sua família em Nova Orleans. Uma noite, durante um desembarque rotineiro, seu passageiro foi morto em um tiroteio, deixando para trás uma maleta com 20,000 dólares. Mike pegou o dinheiro e voltou para casa para gastar com sua família, usando-o entre outras coisas, para pagar a operação de seu irmão caçula Luke. Entretanto, a gangue envolvida no tiroteio o caçou e começou a fazer ameaças para ele e sua família. Em desespero, Mike pediu proteção contra os ataques da gangue a um bokor.
