Es ist ein Zwischenspiel zwischen Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations und Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Anglais Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is the fifth game in the Ace Attorney series. It is an interquel set between Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations and Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney.
This game is a standard "point and click" adventure, with the player controlling Edgeworth's movements and what he interacts with. For each case, the goal is to collect evidence to determine who the perpetrator is, how the crime was committed and their motive. This is presented as a combination of a third-person view showing the characters at the crime scene and through animated close-up images of the characters, annotated by text dialog. In some cases, still images are used to highlight dramatic scenes.

Se centra alrededor del fiscal Miles Edgeworth y el detective Dick Gumshoe, con otros personajes de la serie principal Ace Attorney que aparecen en el juego con diferentes grados de importancia.Aparte de un caso, el juego tiene lugar aproximadamente un mes después de los acontecimientos de Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations.El juego sigue el típico estilo de una aventura gráfica. El jugador controla los movimientos de Edgeworth y lo que interactúa. Para cada caso, el objetivo es descubrir pruebas y averiguar el culpable del crimen, como fue cometido y el motivo. El juego combina tercera persona, al mostrar los personajes en la escena del crimen y un primer plano de los personajes con sprites animados, cuando están hablando. En algunos casos, se usan imágenes para enfatizar escenas dramáticas.La jugabilidad es muy similar a los demás juegos de la saga Ace Attorney. Tiene fases de investigación y de confrontación. Estas últimas sustituyen a las fases de interrogación de previos juegos.
