Allemand Ein High-School Student und begabter Programmierer namens Akemi Nakajima, hat ein sogenanntes "Devil Summoning Program" geschrieben, um an einem Klassenkamerad Rache zu nehmen, weil dieser ihn gemobbt hat. Allerdings zog die Ausführung des Programms schlimme Konsequenzen nach sich. Zusammen mit einer Freundin, die Austauschstudentin Yumiko Shirasagi, muss Najajima die Dämonen die er beschworen hat nun bekämpfen!

Français Shin Megami Tensei est une longue série de jeux de rôle à l'ambiance extrêmement mature qui a trouvé son origine sur Famicom avec ce premier épisode.

Basé sur une nouvelle japonaise, le jeu met en scène un jeune génie de l'informatique, Akemi Nakajima, qui est parvenu à coder un programme invoquant des légions entières de démons. Il décide donc de partir avec son amie Yumiko pour la tour de Daedalus afin de mettre un terme à cette menace. Cette trame n'est en réalité qu'un prétexte pour partir à l'assaut d'un gigantesque donjon-RPG en vue subjective très en avance sur son époque. Il est ici possible de capturer des monstres pour qu'ils rejoignent vos rangs et de les faire fusionner pour en obtenir de plus puissants, et leur agressivité se détermine en fonction des cycles de la lune.
