Allemand Was gehört zu jedem großen Mario-Abenteuer? Richtig, die Entführung von Prinzessin Peach. Und auch bei Paper Mario 2 ist die Prinzessin einmal mehr Opfer eines Fieslings geworden. Doch diesmal ist es ausnahmsweise nicht der lumpige Bowser, der Peach gefangen hält. Ein neuer Schurke, der gemeine Riesendrache Hooktail, hat seine ungewaschenen Klauen nach der holden Prinzessin ausgestreckt.
Mario macht sich also wieder einmal auf, die Prinzessin zu retten. Hilfreich ist dabei seine Form, denn in Paper Mario 2 ist unser Held platt wie eine Flunder, was ihm ungekannte Fähigkeiten verleiht. Er kann sich zu einem Papierflieger zusammenfalten, um weite Abgründe zu überqueren, oder sich zur Seite drehen und passt so auch durch die engsten Ritzen in Gemäuern. Doch Mario erhält noch mehr Unterstützung.
